Wake Up Dead has been released in the UK by edgy independent publisher, Serpent's Tail

 

 

 

After a very succesful hardcover release by Tropen/ Klett-Cotta, Mixed Blood (Kap der Finsternis)  is now available in paperback in Germany, from Heyne Hardcore. It is also out in Italy as Sangue Misto, from  Einaudi Stile Libero, and in Japan as Bloody Cape Town from Hayakawa.

I had a great  time visiting Germany and Austria earlier this month to read from Wake Up Dead (Blutiges Erwachen). Here I am signing at a crime festival in Munich. Yes, that really is an autopsy table, and it was as cold as a morgue in there, too! Fantastic event, with around 450 people in the audience.

The German translation of Mixed Blood, "Kap der Finsternis",  is voted # 1 crime novel of 2009 by the influential KrimiWelt. 19 crime reviewers from Germany, Switzerland and Austria made their selection from over 800 crime novels published last year. "Kap der Finsternis" heads a 10 Best list that  includes Richard Stark, Don Winslow, James Sallis and Pete Dexter.

Picador USA will publish Mixed Blood in trade paperback in December 2009, as part of the Picador Crime Collection, which features authors like Richard Price, Scott Turow and Benjamin Black.

 

 

SEPTEMBER 30 2009

 

Mixed Blood and Wake Up Dead (Henry Holt & Co) will be published in the  U.K. By Serpent's Tail. Japanese rights for both books have gone to Hayakawa Publishing. The German translation of Wake Up Dead will be published by Tropen (who did such a great job with "Kap der Finsternis") as their lead title in March 2010.

 

 

AUGUST 02 2009

 

The German translation of Mixed Blood, "Kap der Finsternis" was voted the best crime novel of May 2009 by KrimiWelt 10 best, the choice of 19 of the most prominent German, Swiss and Austrian critics. The  book spent five months on the list.

 

In July the Austrian Krimi Spezial ranked Kap der Finsternis third out of its ten best thrillers of summer 2009, in the company of Richard Stark and Joseph Wambaugh.
